Long-term apartments and homes with the full pet policy shown up front.
We're just launching in Austin and don't have live listings yet. We'd rather show you nothing than make something up.
We'll email you when long-term rentals that welcome pets go live in Austin. No listings are invented, so emails only go out when there's something real.
Landlords and property managers in Austin: be the first to list. It's free: paste your existing listing link and we'll build it for you.
Be the first landlord in AustinAustin summers are long and hot, so the pet questions that matter most here are about heat. When you tour a rental, look at how much shade the yard gets in the afternoon, whether the patio or balcony faces west, and how far you'll walk on pavement to reach grass. Hot asphalt and concrete can burn paws, so a ground-floor unit near a green space can make daily walks much easier from June through September.
Austin has a mix of large apartment communities, duplexes and single-family homes. If you have a dog, ask whether a house's yard is fully fenced, how tall the fence is and whether there are gaps under gates. In apartment communities, ask where the designated pet relief areas are and whether there's an on-site dog park or wash station.
The city's parks department maintains designated off-leash areas, and the trail around Lady Bird Lake is popular with leashed dogs. Check the City of Austin's website for the current off-leash list and leash rules before you sign a lease, and ask your landlord for the complete pet policy in writing: breed and weight limits, deposit, one-time fees and monthly pet rent.
If you're moving to Austin with a pet, schedule a vet visit soon after you arrive to update records and ask about local concerns like heat safety and parasites. Keep a copy of your pet's vaccination records and a recent photo with your rental paperwork, and consider bringing a pet résumé to showings so landlords can see your pet is well cared for. Make a free pet résumé.
Low or no pet fees means monthly pet rent of $25 or less per pet and a one-time non-refundable pet fee of $300 or less. Fee-Friendly Landlords appear first.
No live listings here yet. We're onboarding our first landlords and won't show made-up listings.
Scores appear once a landlord lists and we've checked every score input.
Fair housing note: Under the federal Fair Housing Act, service animals and assistance animals (including emotional support animals) are not pets. Pet rent, pet deposits, pet fees, breed limits and weight limits generally cannot be applied to them. Pet policies on this site apply to pets only. See our assistance animals guide.
